Four Years, Six Months, and Two Days

One Tree Hill Season 5 is back! Despite the writer's strike that is going on in the States, One Tree Hill was still aired on the CW network (that's in the states) as they have separate agreements (or something along that lines). Either way, one of my favourite TV dramas is back on air, and I immediately caught the first episode.

The story started off more than 4 years after the Tree Hill students high school graduation. Lucas has published a book and is dating his editor. Brooke has her own successful fashion line, Clothes Over Bros. Peyton is despondent at her recording job and return to Tree Hill to start her own label. Nathan again got into trouble and is now on a wheelchair, his NBA dreams shattered. Haley is teaching in Tree Hill High besides leaving off her music royalties. She still packs a mean voice. And their son, James is probably the smartest 4 year old I've seen on TV.

The music as usual is great with a lot of indie bands contributing to the show's music repertoire. The first episode itself had my old favourite, The Freshman, by the Verve Pipe which I have not heard for a long time. It goes ...

When I was young and knew everything,
And she a punk who rarely ever took advice,
Now I'm guilt stricken,
Sobbing with my head on the floor,
Stop a baby's breath and a shoe full of rice

I can't be held responsible
Cause she was touching her face
I won't be held responsible
She fell in love in the first place

For the life of me I cannot remember
What made us think that we were wise and
We'd never compromise
For the life of me I cannot believe
We'd ever die for these sins
We were merely freshmen
